Program Description: 

Empowered Maui is a group level intervention for LGBTQ youth and their supporting allies ranging from 13-26 years of age. Empowered is designed to provide Native Hawaiian cultural values, leadership training, goal setting, healthy living and community service dealing with LGBTQ youth for the county of Maui. Our main focus is to ensure the safety for all and provide a safe environment so they can be themselves and progress to be positive leaders in the LGBTQ community in general. Empowered also educates and provides guidance towards families (Parents, uncles, aunties etc.)

Empowered Maui is one of many programs offered at the Maui AIDS Foundation. There are two other types of programs that are part of our Prevention and Education Department such as SISTAH - Women's Empowered group, P4P - Prevention for Positives (ONLY For our clients who are HIV positive and is heavily screened before entering participating into the group). Maui AIDS Foundation also offers free HIV/HCV and Syphilis 20min rapid testing for the County of Maui including Hana, Moloka'i and Lana'i, we also offer linkage to Transgender Health Care. Also, we go out into the community and educate Medical Providers, School Officials/Staff, and any other community program that offers services for the LGBTQI population.
