Malama Aina Field School
We're very excited to announce that our 8th annual Mālama Aina Field School for Nānākuli and Waianae students will be held for the first time at the new Agnes Kalanihookaha Cope Community Learning Center in Nanakuli. We will be one of the first groups invited to use the center! Mahalo to Kamehameha Schools Wai'anae Coast Region for supporting the Field School!
Dates for the 2020 program will be June 15 - July 17 (M - F, 8 am - 2:30 pm on most days). As in years previous, the Field School will be led by kumu (teachers) from Nānākuli High & Intermediate, Wai'anae Intermediate, Wai'anae High, and Mālama Learning Center, What's new will be that both Nānākuli and Wai'anae classes will be meeting together everyday! Wow, that will be FUN!
Registration is OPEN. We are recruiting students currently in grades 8-9 from Wai'anae Coast schools. Students to be enrolled at Nānākuli High & Intermediate School and Wai'anae High School may earn an elective credit upon successful completion of the 5-week program. Students who have participated previously may apply to be an alaka'i (helper) and earn a new credit. Apply ONLINE today.
The cost of the program is very affordable -- $75 for the full 5-weeks, which includes all transportation, supplies, and even lunch! Scholarships are available for those with financial need.
