Kalama Hawaiian Parenting curriculum
Kamalama Parenting is a Hawaiian Values based parenting curriculum, through which parents and care givers are introduced to a set of traditional Hawaiian values of positive parenting. Parents are encouraged to reflect upon, practice, and model these values at home with their children and extended family. The curriculum uses short narratives, experiential learning, and “talk-story” to present values such as Loina (custom, tradition), ‘Ohana, Lokahi (harmony, balance), Aloha, Ho’omana (spirituality), Kuleana, Hana Pono (correct behavior) and Laulima (working together), Ho’oponopono (to make right).
